Learnings from Struggling Life of Conjoined Twins
Conjoined twins are two babies who are born
physically connected. Conjoined twins develop when an early embryo only
partially separates to form two different individuals. Two foetuses will
develop from single embryo both will remain physically connected each other at
the chest or abdomen or base of spine or length of
spine or pelvis or trunk head.
Lori and George Schappell: the oldest living conjoined
twins having happy life
Lori and George Schappell were born on September 18, 1961 in USA. The twins at the time of birth had shared 30 per cent of their frontal lobe brain tissue and critical blood vessels. Lori and George could not be separated and a court decided to take them away from their parents and placed them in an institution for patients with severe mental disabilities. George has been working as a country singer. Besides, he is designing support equipment for people with physical disabilities. Lori works in a laundry and is also facilitator of George. Lori has height of about 1.53 metre and George with height about 1.30 metre is suffering from spina bifida causing severe mobility problems. George being unable to walk sits on a wheelchair-type stool. The wheelchair-type stool is being pushed by Lori and consequently the twins can move together. George was known as Reba Schappell till 2007 and he stated that although he was born female but in 2007, he identifies as male and changed his name as George. They feel that they have learned so much in their life and will continue living life to the full. They are having feeling that they have very normal lives. They also argue that there was absolutely nothing wrong with them apart from physical disorder. When the twin reached at the age of 21, they fight a legal battle with the institution so that Lori could attend secretarial college and fortunately they won. The twin was able to prove that they could live on their own. Finally, they were allowed to live as independent. They live in a two-bedroom flat and every alternate night they sleep in each other’s rooms. They have overcome so much in their lives and they feel themselves as a strong team. Twin are both single but Lori has experience of dating with a man. When Lori went on dates, George enjoys reading books and listening music. Lori has been interested to have love life and feeling like a woman. Lori was engaged, but four months prior to date of marriage her boyfriend was killed. Lori has started dating again. George is looking after his twin sister. Lori is working in a hospital laundry room and during her working time, George enjoys reading books or listening music. George had a successful music career in USA and he has won Music Award for Best New Country Artist. Lori expressed happiness that career of George provides opportunities them for travelling all over the world for performing. Twins have excellent cooperation. George do not drink but Lori loves a vodka and orange occasionally. Lori and George Schappell are the oldest living conjoined twins which are having joined faces.

the appearance of having a single body without marked variation from typical
proportions. The conjoined twin sisters who are sharing one set of legs, one
set of arms and several internal organs. They are working together to complete tasks
of everyday, including driving, shopping and swimming. Each of twin has a
separate heart, stomach, spine, pair of lungs, and spinal cord. Abby and
Brittany have graduated from university in 2012 after studying education, and

twins. Ronnie and Donnie were connected from the sternum to the groin and had
separate hearts and stomachs, but share a set of lower digestive organs. Ronnie
and Donnie Galyon at the age of 4 years started sideshow attraction around the
US to earn some money for their father and family. They remained the attraction
as sideshow entertainers for over 30 years. They were living in a house that
they bought with their sideshow earnings.
Ganga and Jamuna Mondal oldest conjoined twins outside
of USA
Ganga
and Jamuna Mondal were born in Basirhat, West Bengal, India around 1970. Twin
sisters are joined at the abdomen and pelvis. Their legs are fused and they
share a stomach, liver, and reproductive tract. Ganga and Jamuna Mondal
commonly known as the Spider Sisters are the oldest conjoined twins outside of
USA.
